My artistic pseudonym is Nimrais, I’m female, 27 years old and I live near Nuremberg in southern Germany. I share my life with my ex-stray dogs from Greece and Spain: Dina and Henry.

If you ask yourself “Why did she choose that silly nickname?”, here’s your answer: “Nimrais” is inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth. It’s an Elvish word literally meaning “Mountains of the White Horns”. I love the books, the fictional language and everything about Middle Earth. Especially this word, so I chose it as my pseudonym.

I’m mostly a self-taught artist – I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. I was always pretty creative and enjoyed not only drawing but many other activities like crafting, photography, music and design. I’m a professionally trained Media Designer and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design with a focus on illustration. I currently work as a freelance designer and illustrator.

Why anthropomorphic artwork?

I’ve found my passion for drawing animals way back when I was a kid. I grew up and live with dogs and I still feel a deep emotional connection to those wonderful animals. Also wildlife has always fascinated me a lot. In 2001 I discovered “Anthropomorphic Wildlife Art”, which is a blend of animal with human anatomy. This was the perfect mix between animal, nature, a bit fantasy and human realism for me. I observed and practiced a lot during that time. Around 2003 I slowly started to draw more and more anthro pictures until I was fully involved and began taking commissions.

Love for anthropomorphic illustration since 2001.
